An "Invisible" Search Engine Trick
Do you know that you can actually use images to improve your search engine ranking? Some search engines (e.g., AltaVista) look inside your ALT tags. It is thus important that you include your keywords in the ALT tags. Let's use an example to make things clearer. A typical html code for an image looks like this: <img src="http://www.your-domain.com/image.gif" width=10 height=10 border=0 alt="keyword"> See the "keyword" within the ALT tags? So if you use images on your web pages, make sure you insert your keywords inside the ALT tags. But there is a problem... What if you don't use images on your website? Or what if you need to reserve your ALT tags for words you want your visitors to see when they turn off the graphics mode of their web browsers? Here's where the "invisible" trick comes to the rescue... The basic idea here is to insert images into your web pages so as to use the ALT tags for higher search engine ranking. But your images need not be visible! Just use an invisible image and the look of your web page will remain unchanged. Here's how... The html code that I use is: <img src="http://www.profitjump.com/pic/nopic.gif" width=2 height=2 border=0 alt="my keywords or key phrases"> The "nopic.gif" file is actually an invisible image with a width and height of 1 pixel each. However, I'm specifying the width and height of the image to be 2 pixels for two reasons: a) Who knows when the search engines will in time pick up this trick and stop spidering the ALT tags of images that are only 1x1 pixel in size. It's always better to be safe than sorry, don't you think? b) Always include the "width" and "height" tags for all your images. This "forces" your web browser to FIRST allocate a certain amount of space for your images, then quickly display all your text, and FINALLY display your images. Your web pages load faster as a result. Since the browser has already allocated a fixed space of 2x2 pixel (which is extremely tiny) for the image, it is unlikely that words within your ALT tags are visible to your visitors, even if they turn off the graphics mode of their browsers. OK, enough talk. To start immediately, simply copy <img src="http://www.profitjump.com/pic/nopic.gif" width=2 height=2 border=0 alt="put your keywords or key phrases here"> and paste it on your web pages. If you prefer to host the "invisible" image on your own website, just go to http://www.profitjump.com/pic/nopic.gif and download the image by clicking the "File, Save As" option of your web browser. By the way, don't be surprised if you can't see anything at http://www.profitjump.com/pic/nopic.gif. It is supposed to be invisible, remember? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
